We hope to answer your questions in person during a private tour, but here’s a preview of our most frequently-asked questions and their answers!

What is our approach to memory care?

At Silvermark Plano, we focus on emotional, physical, mental, social, and spiritual wellness. Residents are encouraged to keep as much independence as possible, from moving around freely in our self-contained community to finding new ways to connect with friends and family that work for them.

What’s the difference between memory care and assisted living?

Memory care provides an advanced level of assisted living for persons with Alzheimer’s or dementia. This includes care teams trained to support persons with memory loss, eating that fits changing skills and tastes, and activities that stimulate connection and involvement. While some assisted living facilities offer a specialized memory care space, the Silvermark community is totally dedicated to memory care, allowing patients to walk freely.

What types of dementia does memory care include?

When looking for a memory care setting, it’s important to ask this question because not all communities offer care for all types of memory loss. At Silvermark Plano, we provide the right level of care for people at all stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia, including the early, middle, and late stages. This full range of care makes it easier for people who are just starting to show signs of memory loss to join our family and stay with us as their disease and symptoms get worse.

What is a typical day like?

We acknowledge each resident’s individuality by offering varied daily schedules. We encourage them to find joy and meaning in each day through memory- and motion-boosting hobbies and sensory experiences that promote connection and reduce stress. Each day offers music, entertainment, movies, art sessions, and fitness classes including yoga and movement. Residents can enjoy our outdoor courtyard, walking walkways, flower gardens, and putting green. Snack-tivities enhance nourishment, hydration, and social time. Always time to relax with friends and family.

What do you need to know about the Silvermark Memory Care Program?

Our Program offers a multi-level holistic approach that serves seniors with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Each and every task and interaction with our memory care residents will focus on maintaining the residents’ feeling of self-worth, purpose, and individuality.

We have in place a program that consists of:

  • Life skills
  • Cognitive stimulation
  • Personal interests
  • Music therapy
  • A small and large group
  • Individual activities.

We take great pride in our program and we strive to provide the best service possible on a daily basis; however, some services are compromised when issues beyond our control arise.

What can you tell me about the layout of your community?

Each building was built to mimic a home environment and provide safe living spaces for seniors and individuals needing assistance with activities of daily living. Our private and shared floor plans were designed for safety while providing a cozy space with all of the comforts of home.

  • We provide activity areas and rooms for TV viewing, arts & crafts and reading as well as areas for visiting and private dining with the family.
  • Our designs minimize confusion, encourage social interaction, enhance visual stimulation, and provide a home-like atmosphere
  • Appropriately-placed handrails, security and monitoring systems are in place throughout the property to ensure resident safety.

By designing our community to be more intimate, we’re better able to tailor our daily care to accommodate our residents’ individual needs, from activities to assistance and meals. Our smaller size allows us maximize each day to keep our residents comfortable, secure, and above all – happy!
